Activity
Hoofbeats Sanctuary (Kanyini Connections Ltd)
The Sanctuary is a safe, restorative space – a trauma-healing centre that brings people, animals and nature together to improve the emotional well-being of some of the most vulnerable members of our community – women and children living with mental health challenges from trauma – with a particular focus on those who are survivors of physical and/or sexual abuse.
The Sanctuary is a volunteer-based initiative with over 45 local volunteers who work extremely hard to keep the Sanctuary running 365 days a year.
We offer a variety of individually tailored evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches including:
· private equine therapy programs
· small-group equine personal development programs
· art therapy programs
· somatic movement programs
· mindfulness and meditation programs
As is so often the case with mental health supports, those who would benefit from them the most are the ones who can least afford to access them. We believe that financial disadvantage should never be a barrier to accessing mental health supports and so every program at the Sanctuary is available free of charge to those who need it to be.
